Fixit Fair is a free event open to the public where you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need on clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, home appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields set up at various stations to assist people with their repairs.
Next Fixit Fair:
Saturday October 21st, 2017
11a - 3pm* (repair line closes at 2:30p)
@SNTL - 417 E Oliver St. 21202
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the volunteer "fixers" they start making their repairs in the Fixit Fair so it becomes an interactive and ongoing learning process.
WHAT CAN I BRING?
- Other sewing repairs
- Small pieces of furniture
- Small household appliances
- Small electrical fixes (lamps)
WILL YOU FIX IT FOR ME?
Visitors are getting help to do the repair themselves, we provide most materials for common fixes and hands-on instruction.
We make no guarantee of repairs and longer, more in-depth repairs may be referred to a local repair service.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This is a FREE event!
Repair advice and materials are free for common fixes.
However, larger, more specialized repairs (like new brakes on a bicycle or a new zipper in a dress) may require the purchase of additional parts and due to the nature of this free event, we cannot guarantee that volunteer "fixers" will have such parts on hand for purchase or be able to make these repairs in a timely fashion.
For the 10/21/17 Fixit Fair - the Baltimore Marathon takes place that day so anyone coming from the north or west side of the route, then this is a good workaround to get through:
Take 83 south, exit on Guilford St/exit 3
L on Centre
L on Fallsway
R / Straight onto Guilford and you're home free.
