Hey Baltimore builders, do-it-yourself-ers, handy humans, makers and artists!
We’re hosting our first ever Tooly Awards! The Toolys are a fun, tongue-in-cheek award ceremony in the style of the Emmys or Grammys. We’ll be celebrating all of your amazing projects and successes with food, drinks and prizes!
This event is free for members, class takers, and donors of the Station North Tool Library who RSVP!
Red carpet or funky-fancy attire is encouraged. This is an awards ceremony, after all! Beer, wine, and light fare will be provided!
Friday, October 18
5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
at the Station North Tool Library
417 E. Oliver Street, Baltimore, MD 21202
Nominate yourself for an award, win great prizes and bragging rights!
Have you (or a friend) made something incredible using tools you’ve borrowed or skills you’ve learned at the Station North Tool Library? Of course you have! Put that project to work by entering to win one of these prizes at the Tooly Awards!
HOW TO ENTER:
STEP 1: Choose a project that the Station North Tool Library was involved in
It could be any sort of DIY, woodworking, or craft project, so long as you used tool-borrowing, classes, or Open Shop at SNTL to do it! It could have also involved help or advice from other folks in the community, like fellow members, volunteers, or Shop Monitors.
STEP 2: Pick the category that best fits your project.
All projects be entered to compete for the BEST OVERALL title to win $150 at Falkenhan’s Hardware!
This should be a project that benefited your neighborhood, community, nonprofit, or school.
Examples could include projects like community gardens, parks, Little Free Library boxes, or interior projects like renovations or upgrades.
Tell us about your resourceful project. The best entries will have some combination of these types of resourcefulness:
Environmental resourcefulness, like using reclaimed materials or up-cycling
Monetary resourcefulness, like saving a big-ole chunk of money by borrowing tools or doing it yourself!
Creative resourcefulness, like unconventional hacks or solutions to challenging problems.
Funniest Fail/Most Improved
Tell us about a recent project that you failed at spectacularly, and what you learned from it. Huge bonus points if it’s funny.
Miscellaneous Awesome/Weird Shit!
Other projects that are awesome in their own right, but might not be a good fit for any of the above categories.
STEP 3: Tell us your story
This is the most important part! Tell us your story and why you deserve to win.
STEP 4: Upload a photo or video
Send us a photo or video of your project using the form below! Only one photo or video can be uploaded at a time. We recommend choosing the photo that best represents your project, or creating a collage using a service like Pic Stich or Fotor. Additional photos can be emailed to email@example.com.
HOW TO WIN:
STEP 1: Share your entry with friends and family
The entries with the most votes will be the final nominees. (A maximum of three entries per category will be the finalists.) Then a panel of judges will choose a winner!
STEP 2: Attend the award ceremony
If you are one of the finalists, you or someone you know must be present to accept your prize and eat all the snacks.
