Open Shop
Open Shop provides shared workspace and equipment for DIYers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs. Our shop includes a drill press, miter saw, scroll saw, bandsaw, table saw, jointer, planer, belt sander, spindle sander, spray booth, and more. When scheduling, keep in mind that “no appointments available” means we are full for that day!
We allow booking up to three weeks in advance and recommend checking back in on Mondays, when new appointments are released.
Due to high demand, we are limiting reservations to a maximum of 3 hours per day. Please do not register for multiple appointments.
If you can no longer make it, please cancel your appointment or let us know so others can come in.

- Woodworking Open Shop - Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. (Registration closes at 8AM on the day of)
- Knife Making Open Shop - Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm. (Registration closes at 6PM the day before)
- Craft Open Shop - Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. (Registration closes at 6PM the day before)
You can schedule an appointment for any of the three workshops below.
+ SHOP REQUIREMENTS & PREREQUISITES
- Have an active membership at the Station North Tool Library.
- Have completed Shop Safety to use the Wood Shop and Knife Making to use the Knife Shop. There is no prerequisite to use the Craft Shop.
- Members who want to use to the table saw, planer, and jointer must complete Woodworking I.
- Shop users must wear required PPE (e.g. safety glasses, respirator) when using relevant tools, and are encouraged to wear a mask and hearing protection. You are welcome to bring your own, but these are provided as well.
Having trouble using our online scheduling tool to book an appointment?
Check that you have an active membership and have completed Shop Safety. You can do this by logging into your account. If you are having trouble logging in, email us!
Choose an “Appointment Type” either a 1-hour, 2-hour, or 3-hour appointment in the Wood Shop or Knife Shop.
Keep “All Instructors” selected. Do not select a specific instructor.
Click on the day that you’d like to see appointments for in the calendar, and then click “SEARCH”. A list of available appointment times will appear below. If you do not see any times on a given day, that means there are no available appointments for that day.
Make sure that you’re not browsing in an “Incognito” or “Private” tab, and that cookies for this site are enabled.
Members are limited to one Open Shop appointment per week. If you are trying to schedule a second appointment in a week that you’ve already booked an appointment, you’ll get an error message.
